Группа едва узнала его, и этот момент вдохновил строки "Shine On You Crazy Diamond". Альбом вышел на Harvest Records (EMI) и мгновенно завоевал успех: в США он достиг первого места в чартах Billboard, а по всему миру продано около 20 миллионов копий.

В 2025 году Pink Floyd, под эгидой Sony Music/Legacy Recordings, выпускает роскошное переиздание, которое выходит сегодня, 12 декабря.
